Hampton Blue came about in the early 80’s when Rob and Sue Groom bought a bush block in Hampton Queensland. From this they created a home but also a nice little farm. Rob is an experimenter and has planted and trellised numerous crops on the block including kiwi fruit, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, loganberries, nashi pears, parsley, silverbeet, geraldton wax and at one stage had a full market garden.
We tried numerous organic farming methods during this time as well. When Kirst and Andrew returned to the area, the focus came back to blueberries, with a few raspberries and remains so.
We’ve been running organic farming systems for a long time now and we’ve been providing certified organic blueberries and raspberries for over 15 years and growing blueberries for more than 40 years.
In the lates 80’s and early 90’s, Rob Groom, led the Blueberries Growers Association in Queensland while most blueberry growers were still small boutique experimental farms in and around South East Queensland.
